Caring for your Jewellery

Silver jewellery naturally tarnishes over time, but by following our tips below, you can reduce tarnish and keep your jewellery looking like new.

  • Remove your jewellery before showering, bathing or swimming, either in the sea or in a swimming pool. Silver jewellery tarnishes particularly quickly when in contact with chlorinated water, so please don't wear your jewellery when swimming.
  • Apply any perfume, lotions and creams first and allow to dry before putting on your jewellery.
  • Remove your jewellery or wear rubber gloves when doing household tasks that involve bleach and other harsh cleaners.
  • Keep your jewellery away from extreme temperatures, humidity and sunlight.
  • It is best to remove your jewellery when doing any form of exercise to prevent it catching on clothing/apparatus and causing damage or breakage.
  • Store your jewellery in a box to prevent it being scratched or damaged. Do not keep your jewellery on display in bright sunlight.

Cleaning your jewellery

Your jewellery is provided with a silver cleaning cloth to help you keep your item looking shiny and like new. If your jewellery is particularly dirty, please wash in warm soapy water, and use a soft toothbrush if needed to remove any persistent stains.

Buff your jewellery with the silver cleaning cloth provided as this is impregnated with a silver cleaner which will remove any tarnish. The cloth will turn black as you use it but this is quite normal and will not effect the cleaning ability.

**Do not wash the silver polishing cloth as this will remove the silver cleaner.

If your jewellery has gemstones, please take a little extra care when cleaning as these can scratch. Avoid using cleaning products or machines such as silver dip, ultrasonic cleaners or very hot water.
